My approach to couples sessions is more about documenting you... I want to capture you and your partner with the intention of capturing who you both are. In a way that truly reflects the two of you. I want to see your real laughs, the way you instinctively reach for each others hand. I want to document the quiet moments just as much as the big ones. The way you tuck a strand of hair behind their ear, they way your eyes light up when they say something only you understand.

This isn't about perfect poses, it's about you - your love, your connection, your story, exactly as it is. So let's embrace the windblown hair, the real laughs, and you two being genuine. Let's create something that feels like you.

1. Choose a Meaningful Location

I encourage you to choose a location that holds some significance to you both. This could be your favorite coffee shop, the park where you had your first date, your cozy home, or even a place you both have been wanting to explore together. Being in a familiar space will help you feel more relaxed and allow for more genuine interactions.

2. Dress Comfortably + Be Yourself

I encourage you to wear something that reflects your style and personalities. Anything that makes you feel comfortable and confident! Consider what location we are going to and what overall vibe you are wanting for your photos. Natural fabrics, earthy tones, and layered outfits work well and add visual interest without being distracting.

3. Focus on Each Other, Not the Camera

I always like to make sure to give a little speech before each session about how you two are the main characters, this is your movie, your book, do whatever you want! I don't want you focused on me. I want you to focus on each other and enjoy this time together with no distractions, no phones, just the two of you. I will always encourage you to hold hands, talk with one another, and interact how you normally would. I can only document what is in front of me, so prepare yourselves for running around, dancing to your favorite songs, and laughing until you're crying. These are the moments that make you feel your gallery.

4. Plan an Activity

I love a good date night session! Let's plan a coffee date, go on a picnic or hike, dance in your kitchen, jump in the lake, or do whatever your heart desires. Having something to do will take your mind off being "perfect" in front of the camera and creates more opportunities for storytelling moments.

5. Embrace the Imperfections

Documentary-style photography is all about capturing real life—the wind in your hair, laughter, stolen glances, and even the messy moments. I will forever encourage you to let go of expectations and just be present, because those raw, unscripted moments are what make the best photos. Talk with your partner about being present and excited about getting to spend time together. The vibes your bring to the session are the ones being documented. Embrace the imperfections that make us who we are.
